Professional info
I started my path with sculpturing in 2008 at a Raku technique workshop in Tikotin Museum in Haifa, Israel. I continued my studies for 3 months in Portland, Oregon. Back in Israel, I studied sculpturing under the supervision of Rachel Abu-Chatzera, Ornella Jacob, and Orna Akerman.
My work was presented in Haifa Auditorium, and in Gallery by the Lake, Raanana, Israel.
After retiring from 25 years of teaching and supervising teachers in mass communication, I am now investing my time sculpturing in my studio.
I am married, mother of three sons and a grandmother of five grandchildren.
Artist Statement
I love working with clay. It is a flexible and attentive material. Every touch leaves a mark in it. Clay preserves gestures and ideas that are concealed in me without even knowing.
My work is drawn from powerful sights of contradictions in nature. It deals with motherhood, and with individuals as family members and as part of society at large.
I am mostly interested in the human figure with its different representations and movements. I research body movements and attempt to find ways to preserve the moment of activity. I am exploring the capabilities of colors to support movement, as well as to blur the perception of the material.
The sculptures are made by Handbuilding techniques of slab layering.
The human shape and its allegories represent layers of depth- feelings, thoughts, beliefs, approaches etc.
